Glocal Mission is a Christian, non-profit organization based in Houston, TX founded by Rev. Dr. David Kim with a few like-minded missionary pastors and congregations since October of 2016. Glocal Mission equips and mobilizes people to become everyday disciple-making missionaries by vocation in their own backyard and beyond (glocally) to make an eternal difference in their community, for their community, and with their community. We’re a multi-ethnic network of congregations who are intentionally committed to seeking the lost, discipling the found, and multiplying disciple-makers and churches with the caring love of Christ cross-culturally, cross-linguistically, cross-regionally, cross-generationally, and cross-nationally to God's glory and for the common good!
The term GLOCAL /ˈɡlōk(ə)l/ is not a typo but a fusion of the words "global" and "local". The term glocal reflects and is characterized by both local and global considerations. It’s not a global or local mission. It’s not an overseas or domestic mission. It’s both a global and a local mission. We must be glocal Christians with a glocal vision because our God is glocal God for a glocal mission field. We believe that everyone is either a mission field (if the person is without Christ) or missionary by vocation (if the person is with Christ) - Rev. Dr. David Kim.
Our God is by excellency is a missionary. His desire is to see the Gospel proclaimed to all nations, disciples made and churches planted in Houston and beyond for His glory and the common good of the people.
Vision Statement: We envision reaching 3 billion people with the gospel of Jesus motivated by His love and raising 1 million vocational missionaries and disciple makers among 127 nations and planting 7,000 churches by 2050. (cf. Esther 3:9; 8:9; Rev. 5:9; 7:9)
Gideon Project
Be one of 300... to support what God is doing to reach one more soul, one more disciple maker, one more church, and one more nation for the sake of the Gospel!
In the Old Testament book of Judges, God called Gideon to overcome Israel’s oppressors, the Midianites. Gideon’s clan was the weakest, and he was the least in his father’s house, yet God promised to be with him. The Spirit of the LORD clothed Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet, and called people to follow him into battle (Judges 6:34). Against a mighty army of 120,000 enemies, Gideon was able to muster 32,000. Yet God told him that he had too many, lest Israel think that it was by their own strength, not the strength of the LORD, that the battle would be won. So Gideon followed God’s lead and whittled their troops down to 300 men. With only 300, God defeated the Midianites mightily.
Today God is calling us to fight as One man for the sake of the Gospel! Currently there are roughly 5.4 Billion people whose minds are blinded by the spiritual forces of evil so that they do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior! 5.4 Billion people will not enter heaven and will remain under the oppression and dominion of our enemy unless they are reached and told about the Way, the Truth, and the Life: Jesus Christ!
Today God is raising up an army of everyday disciple-making missionaries through Glocal Mission to break the bonds of oppression and set people free with the hope of the Gospel. These missionaries need support. We are blowing the trumpet to call to arms those whom God is calling. 300 men and women are needed who will stand with Glocal Mission with regular financial support to strengthen Christ’s work of seeking the lost, discipling the found, and multiplying disciple makers and churches. 300 who pledge to give $100/month to Glocal Mission to support those who are on the front lines.
Why so few? Because we believe that God is able to overcome the odds with a few who are faithful so that He will be glorified, and we will know that victory is the Lord’s and not by our own strength.
Why do this? Because to our Missionary God, one more matters! One more soul, one more disciple-maker, one more church, one more nation—our Missionary God wants to reach them because he loves them. He says through the voice of Ezekiel:
“Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?” (Ezekiel 18:23)
And again He says,
“I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.” (Ezekiel 34:16) So says the Lord.
Will you answer the call to stand as One of God's faithful 300? Will you be faithful to give of your treasure to break through the enemies' darkness with the light of Christ, so that one more will be saved and not perish, but will enter with Christ in His glorious kingdom to come?
If so, please prayerfully consider being one of the 300 in the Gideon Project for Glocal Mission. Your resources will help provide support missionaries on the ground in mighty ways.
If you are not able to make that financial commitment, then consider being one of 7,000 prayer warriors who regularly lift up those who are on the front lines with your prayer support. With God’s help and with your prayerful and financial support we would like to become a healthy and thriving self-sustaining mission organization.
“The mission is done with the feet of those who go, the knees of those who pray, the hands of those who give, the heart of those who serve behind of the scenes.” – Glocal Mission
“Greater Houston has become one of the nation’s most ethnically and culturally diverse metropolitan areas” –Stephen Klineberg
The Union Baptist Association reports, “At the present rate of growth, it would take 1450+ years and a cost of 47.9 billion to reach our current population.
